Fall Classic Recap: 2022

Winds in the east, mist coming in. Like somethin’ is brewin’ and ’bout to begin. Can’t put me finger on what lies in store, But I feel what’s to happen all happened before.

When pumpkin spice smells hit, leaves change their color, and the first frost has touched the ground, Fall is in the air. This brings one of our last yearly Annual Events: Fall Classic. From September 23 -25, members from all 3 Divisions went head to head in a showdown fight to see who reigned supreme. If you missed the action, we’ve got you covered!

Friday Night Fight Club

Friday night started off our glorious Fall Classic. We saw our usual opening of the Forums Challenge, a Fortnite Duo, Gang Beasts, and a bring back of our beloved 7’s only events, starring Fall Guys.

Fortnite Duo’s Speedrun

Fortnite graced our presence to open the Fall Classic Annual Events. We know, we know, (insert deep sigh here). BUT, just go with it, it was a ZERO BUILD MODE. Just running and gunning, with absolutely no need to build or blow down a house to get to a tween for that coveted win.

Now for the speedrun teams played for 90 minutes, and had several ways to obtain points. They got 1 point per kill, 10 for a victory, 5 for a top 5, and 3 for a top 10. Strategy was the name of the game. Do you hot drop and get as many kills as you can then wipe, or find weapons and play it safe? It’s all about preference at the end of it.

In all things dealing with KSI Annual Events, Fortnite threw a monkey wrench in our teams faces so hard, we’ll be reeling from it until Christmas. Turns out, at the end of the day, WE HAD A TIE of 56 points for first place. Yep, you read that correctly. For the tie breaker, both teams had to play another 30 minutes with the same criteria as the first speedrun. It was interesting to say the very least.

7’s Only: Fall Guys

Once upon a time, in the olden days of KSI Annual Events, we had the exclusive 7’s only games. No one knows what happened, or why it’s just stopped either; so, it was brought back to us! Here, our illustrious 7’s repped their Divisions and Departments, had a little fun, and just went with the flow!

Gang Beasts: Melee

Gang Beasts has become one of the hottest free games to play on XBOX, well at least since Fortnite and Apex has graced us with their presence. As a big played game, it came in top voted by CS for their Division Pick. They also showed up and showed all their kick butt skills in this melee bash!

Saturday Night Slugfest

Saturday evenings shenanigans were full of fun and laughs. The line up was as follows: Divisional Fall Guys, 7’s only Prominence Poker, and CoD Cold War. As you can imagine, it was a sight to watch and listen to!

Fall Guys

Divisional games are always a fun treat to watch. It’s more interesting when you see others knock people off a platform edge. In Fall Guys, for those who have been living under a rock for the last few months, that’s exactly what happens. You race through a map blocking out other members to be first to cross that finish line. How you get to first place is up to you!

7’s Only Prominence Poker

To bluff or not to bluff??? That was the question for the whole table. When it was over, the luck was drawn, the bluffs made par, and the winner was a go! It really does take some massive skill for these guys though.

CoD: Cold War 4v4 Search & Destroy

It’s not a KSI Annual Event without Call of Duty, is it??? No, no it’s really not. Insert ES’s Div pick of Cold War Search and Destroy. When the grenades all exploded, and the magazines were as empty as the Detroit Lion’s defensive line, the tables had turned. With a little hiccup here and there, and a day later for the final match, the battle was at long last over. ALL PRAISE THE HALO GODS!

Sunday Night Street Fight

Sunday’s are set aside for a day of rest, but not in the eyes of KSI. This spoken of Sunday was dedicated to a Minecraft build off, a massive Rainbow 6 Siege show out, and the Closing Ceremonies with Divisional and Department Hall of Fame wrapped up tightly with the Forums Challenge. To say it was an interesting evening, well that’s a massive understatement. There were highs and lows, connections and interruptions, call outs and CALL OUTS. But, at the end of the day, our teams did their very best to make the brightest of the darkest times.

Minecraft Halloween 3 Hour Build-off

When someone says Minecraft, you think rest and relaxation right? Grab a fishing pole, pull up a mending book, layer up some armor and go beat a dragon. Nope, not here! Members were given 3 hours to make their best and brightest Halloween themed showcase. Now, 3 hours might be a long time for a FPS, but in the world of building it’s really not. This takes strategic planning and execution. And boy did it ALL shine! Every team put together one hell of a show, and should be super proud of their outcomes!

Rainbow 6 Siege: 3v3 Bomb

So, the ancient Gods were petty and cruel, and plagued mankind with video games. More specifically, Rainbow 6 Siege. Many people can manhandle first person shooters, but when you add in a bomb type game, and some sneaky snooks, you got a really shady happening. With trial and error, a lot of “MLG Pro Try-harding from Jesus”, and a shot in the toe, along with a few seconds to stop the bomb, we got a fantastic game! Holy heck, was it a memorable spectacle too!

Forums Challenge

With every Annual Event, we have the elusive Forums Challenge. Members come from far and wide to support all of KSI’s Divisions! They go and vote for their favorite Div to show some love, then comment to get that Event’s Forums Award. Thank you to each and ever person who came to give their vote!

The Final Countdown

As the final shot was fired, and the last block toured, Fall Classic 2022 came to a loud, roaring end. Many lives were lost, but memories were gained through massive amounts of comradery. Deep breaths and long slurs were let loose, and the totals tallied. Wait no longer, the winners have finally been announced.

But before we get to that, a big shout out to all members who helped put this Annual Event together. To our Departments, thank you for taking the time to make sure that this event happened! To our members, thank you all for showing up and repping your Divisions. For everyone else, thank you for keeping it super classy and sassy!
